Women Cell/Gender Sensitization Cell

The College has an active Women Cell/ Gender Sensitization Cell constituted as per UGC Regulations Act, 2013 and Supreme Court Vishakha Guidelines to ensure a safe, secure and gender-just campus.

Vision

To create a gender-equitable environment, empower girl students to voice their concerns, and sensitize all students towards gender-specific challenges.

Objectives:

• To ensure safety and security of girl students on campus.
• To educate girls about their legal rights, self-defense, health & hygiene.
• To prevent discrimination and sexual harassment and ensure time-bound redressal.
• To transform patriarchal attitudes into gender sensitivity.

Facilities for Women Students:

• Separate washrooms with Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines.
• CCTV surveillance across campus.
• Robust Counselling, Anti-Ragging and Grievance Redressal Cells.
• First-aid and medicines available in college.

Key Activities:

• Celebration of International Women's Day on 8th March every year.
• Awareness programs on Women Empowerment, Girl Education, Menstrual Hygiene, Female Feticide, AIDS awareness, Lectures on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace.
• Self-defense, Health check-ups, Nutrition & Adolescent counselling sessions.
• Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Film Screening on gender issues.
• Curriculum integration of topics like patriarchy, gender as social construct, women empowerment.

The Women Cell works to instill confidence, courage and self-reliance among girl students and maintains complete confidentiality in handling complaints.
